How Much Does it Cost for a Full Bathroom Remodel?

National Averages estimate most homeowners send between $6,604 and $16,418 for a full bathroom remodel.

It's no secret that remodeling a bathroom can increase your home's value. There are plenty of ways to make your bathroom look better and improve durability, style, and overall experience—and chances are you’ll feel like your investment was worth it after that first soak in your new jet tub.

Bathroom Remodel Cost Per Square Foot?

The cost of your bathroom remodeling project depends on your choice of fixtures, tile, and the level of effort it will take to get from where your bathroom is now to your ideal finished product. But in general, the price per square foot is around $70 on the low end and $250 on the high end.

Factors That Impact Bathroom Remodel Costs

There are many things that will impact the price of a bathroom remodel - including, but not limited to:

  • Your Home's Location and the area's cost of living

  • Bathroom size

  • Cost of Materials (i.e. premium vs budget tile, fixtures, etc.)

  • Need for additional Plumbing work (for example, are you moving your tub from one side of the bathroom to the other?)

  • Need for electrical work (i.e. upgrading to recessed lighting)

  • Expansion of current space

  • Addition of Custom features (skylight, shower seating, etc.)

Preparing for Your New Bathroom Project

Before you get started, think about some of these questions so you're ready to discuss the project scope with your contractor:

  • What style do you like? Do you like contemporary looks or more traditional styling?

  • What's trending right now? If you planning on selling your home soon, you’ll want to consider current trends and desirable features in your market

  • What level of customization am I hoping for? or premium finishes you desire (and can realistically afford)

  • Do you want to relocate any fixtures? Does any of your project require extra work for plumbing or electrical?

  • How much improvement do you need? Are you looking for a total renovation or a smaller project, like a vanity upgrade and fresh paint?

  • Length of the project: How long will the work take? Will the bathroom be out of commission during renovations?
